Parent Advisory Council (PAC)

Students benefit when their parents are involved and engaged.

WELCOME!

As a parent or guardian of a student attending École Alpha Secondary you are automatically a member of the Alpha Parent Advisory Council (PAC).

The main objective of Alpha PAC is to provide a means of communication between parents and the school while enhancing the educational experience of Alpha students through the support of school programs and student initiatives.

STAY INFORMED – ATTEND A MEETING

Alpha PAC meetings are open to all parents and guardians of École Alpha Secondary students.  Meetings are held in person on the first Monday of each month* at 7 p.m. in the Learning Commons (Library) and are approximately 1 hour.   Meeting information is sent out via email prior to the meeting.

STUDENTS ARE THE PRIORITY

Alpha PAC’s main focus is the students and ensuring they have access to opportunities that enhance their learning experiences.

Government Gaming grants as well as ongoing Alpha PAC initiated fundraisers ensure this can happen.  Alpha PAC distributes funds on an ongoing basis throughout the year in response to teachers and student groups request.  As part of Alpha PAC, you have an opportunity to have a voice and choose how these PAC funds are distributed.

During the 2022/23 school year, Alpha PAC generated funds were able to support a variety of enrichment opportunities throughout the school community including:

  • Activity fees and supplies for Visual Arts Council, Environment Club, Math Contest, Book Club and Debate club
  • Special activities and field trips for the BIPOC group, Indigenous classes and special needs students
  • Support for various departments including Home Economics, Robotics, Science
  • Live performances and special guest speakers for various student groups
  • Athletic uniforms
