Alpha is proud to share some great news with the community! Avril Brigden, grade 10, has been selected among 10 000 contenders across the country to recite a French and an English poem. She had to perform in front of a professional jury including the Governor General’s Literary Award for Poetry winner, Cecily Nicholson…also from Burnaby! Avril ended up in third place in the bilingual category, meaning a $500 prize in her pocket and $250 worth of poetry books for the school!
The event took place in Winnipeg from April 23rd to April 26th, 2019. The bilingual event was a great success, gathering students from different horizons with unique stories, displaying the diversity of our country.
