Alpha Students Impress Our Community

Grade twelve students from Alpha’s “Class of 2017,” Sonya Kung and Dante Wong have been recognized with community awards that celebrate their community contributions both inside and outside of the school.

Both Sonya and Dante were given Youth Citizenship Awards from the City of Burnaby. The City of Burnaby Youth Citizenship Award recognizes young people who have made an important contribution to their community and who have a positive attitude and demonstrate qualities such as initiative, enthusiasm and commitment.

In addition, Sonya won a City of Burnaby 2017 Environmental Award for her outstanding leadership and environmental achievements, and the Trevor Linden Community Spirit Scholarship for her community service work and volunteer activities.

Finally, Dante won 1st place in the A&E Canadian Classroom “Lives That Make a Difference” essay contest for his essay about Minister of Justice Jody Wilson Raybould and her contributions to the Canadian community.
